Edema is the medical term for swelling. Face, eyes, ankles and legs swelling belong in this group. Edema is accumulation of serious fluids in the body tissues. The term “serious” fluids is related to fluids similar to the blood plasma and doesn’t include water. The edema swellings are soft at first, but later they harden. At that point you should go to the doctor immediately. There are numerous different causes for edema. Some are not very serious, such as insects’ stings, inflammation on the lymphatic vessels, eczema, etc. Others may be very dangerous and require medical treatment. They appear as a result of decreased kidney function or heart function, hysteria, epilepsy or beef food poisoning.
Quincke’s edema appears on the eyes and is manifested with serious allergic reaction and can be life- threatening. In this article, we won’t mention the swellings that can attack the human internal organs, but you should know that they are very dangerous.
Each edema type signals that our organism is dealing with some issue. Sometimes it can be treated with healing herbs.
It is essential to seek medical diagnose if you have edema. If you suffer from some minor type of edema try one of the following recipes:

-hawthorn flower tea (two pinches for one cup)
-restharrow root tea (two pinches for one cup)
-corn silk tea (three pinches for one cup)
-cataplasm of fruits and vegetables: garlic, onion, parsley, cherry, pear, leek, blackcurrant and watercress.

if you have swellings on your ankles or legs try relaxing with your legs on a pillow, actually lift your legs a bit higher than the position of the heart.
Edema swellings are always accompanied with urinary retention also known as the inability to empty the bladder. For this issue try the following recipes:

-wormwood leaf and flower tea (a pinch for one cup)
-birch leaf tea (three pinches for one cup)
-chamomile tea (two pinches for one cup)
-birch buds tea (two pinches fo one cup)
-borage leaf and flower tea (three pinches for one cup)
– cherry stalk tea (three pinches for one cup)
-couch grass root tea (two pinches for one cup)
-ash leaf tea (three pinches for one cup)
-dead-nettles leaf tea (four pinches for one cup)
-dandelion tea (two pinches for one cup)
-horsetail tea (three pinches for one cup)
-blackberry leaf tea (three pinches for one cup)
-sage leaf and flower tea (two pinches for one cup)
-elderberry flower tea (three pinches for one cup)

Additionally, soak your arms and legs in the following mixture:

1 liter of water
a pinch of artichoke leaf
ten pinches of fresh watercress
a pinch of greater celandine
one ground onion
a pinch of parsley
two pinches of horsetail
a pinch of buttercup tea
Drink this tea every morning:

Boil five pinches of linden flowers and four pinches of winter savory in 9 dl of water for five minutes and then add two pinches of wild strawberry, two pinches of rose flowers, two pinches of dandelion, two pinches of anise and two pinches of lemon balm. Then, remove the mixture from heat.
